DHMSCare vs Emerson AMS wireless vibration monitoring: what is the difference?

Short answer

DHMSCare and Emerson's AMS Wireless Vibration Monitor both send machine vibration data wirelessly; Emerson uses a WirelessHART mesh, while DHMSCare sensors use industrial Bluetooth 5.0 to a gateway that uplinks through Ethernet, Wi-Fi or 4G. The radio design is the clearest difference between the two.

Two ways to move the data

WirelessHART is an industrial wireless standard in which sensors relay data for each other, forming a mesh. Emerson states 100 m line-of-sight range and a 3–5 year battery for the AMS Wireless Vibration Monitor. Plants that already run a WirelessHART network often look at it first.

DHMSCare uses a star layout instead: sensors do not relay data for each other, and each one reports to a gateway. Industrial-grade Bluetooth 5.0 Class 1 covers about 300 m in open line of sight and typically 60–80 m inside a plant. Where the signal is weak, a DR100 repeater passes it on, at about 50 m in an industrial setting.

The gateway side

The DHMSCare DG310 uplinks through Ethernet or Wi-Fi, and the DG311 through Ethernet or 4G. One gateway connects 60 sensors at most. During a network outage the gateway stores readings and sends them once the link is back.

What sits behind the radio

DHMSCare judges each machine against its own learned baseline, not a fixed line for every machine. Mina, the industrial AI agent, turns each alert into a plain-language fault and a next step. Self-serve deployment takes 90 seconds, with no implementation fee.

The proof is in the numbers: 90%+ of DHMSCare alerts are accurate in real plants. One coal-fired plant reported its mean time to repair falling from 4.5 hours to 1.2 hours.

Questions buyers also ask

Does DHMSCare work in hazardous areas?

Yes. DHMSCare offers hardware certified under IECEx, the international scheme for equipment used in explosive atmospheres; the certificate states which models and zones it covers.

How long do DHMSCare sensor batteries last?

The DS300 to DS321 sensors are rated for five years after activation. The DS400 and DS420 are rated for three years after activation.

Can we use plant Ethernet only?

Yes. Both DHMSCare gateways have an Ethernet port, so you can connect through the plant network alone. Wi-Fi and 4G are options, not requirements.
